Building Your Neurodivergent Identity
A six-week psychoeducational group program for children, teenagers and parents
Developing a positive understanding of your neurodivergent identity can help make sense of your experiences, recognise your strengths, and better understand yourself.
The Building Your Neurodivergent Identity program has been developed for Autistic people, ADHDers and parents, providing a safe, supportive and neurodiversity-affirming space for learning, reflection and connection.
Through shared learning, discussion and practical activities, participants are invited to explore their identity and lived experiences while learning alongside others with similar experiences.
Who is this program for?
The program is suitable for individuals with a formal diagnosis, as well as those who identify as Autistic or ADHD, or who are exploring whether these identities feel right for them. Separate groups are offered for children, teenagers and parents, with discussions and activities tailored to each group's stage of development and lived experience.
What to Expect
Creating a safe and supportive group environment is just as important as the content we explore.
Groups are intentionally kept small and are designed to be welcoming, respectful and neurodiversity-affirming. There is no expectation to share personal experiences or participate in a particular way. Participants are encouraged to engage in ways that feel comfortable for them.
We are mindful of creating an environment that supports a range of sensory and communication needs. This may include thoughtful consideration of lighting, background noise, movement opportunities, sensory supports, flexible seating and allowing additional processing time where needed.
Participants are welcome to use movement, fidget tools, sensory supports or take breaks as needed throughout the program. This flexibility is encouraged across all groups, including our online parent programs.
