Frequently Asked Questions
-
I typically work with young people and their families aged 4-16 years.
-
The first session focuses on getting to know your child and understanding your concerns and goals. It is a gentle, supportive space to share your story, ask questions, and begin planning next steps together. This session is for parents only (unless for an older teen) and can be done via telehealth if preferred.
-
You know your child best, and preparation will look different for each family. Some helpful ideas include:
Bringing a favourite toy, comfort item, or squishy
Talking about the session in a simple, reassuring way
Showing your child photos of the room or clinician ahead of time
Watching the welcome video, which will be sent once appointments are confirmed
We will always go at your child’s pace and aim to make sessions feel safe and supportive.
-

The initial intake appointment allows us to explore your concerns and determine whether Campaspe Psychology is a good fit for your child and family.

We believe parent involvement in sessions are incredibly important to build skills as a family and support change, particularly for young children. We will discuss what feels most helpful and appropriate for your child during the intake session.
